Brink Makes Statement of Wild Animal Return to Thompson Widow

"I am heart sickened at the thought of the surviving animals from the Zanesville tragedy being returned to Marian Thompson, the wife of Terry Thompson who released dozens of wild animals from their cages before taking his own life.

There has been no evidence that the horrible conditions under which these animals lived has been corrected and it is inhumane to subject these wild animals back to this environment.  The welfare and health of these beautiful animals should not be jeopardized due to the lack or regulations in Ohio. This is a prime example for the need of stricter and more stringent laws that protect not only the animals but public safety as well. Read the entire statement here.

San Diego Sanctuary Seeks Aid For Desperate Animals

Exotic animals in need of placement

SAN DIEGO – Lions Tigers & Bears Big Cat & Exotic Animal Rescue (LTB) in San Diego is stepping up to place and transport dozens of wild and exotic animals that are in need of a new home due to the eventual closure of a sanctuary in Ohio. Bobbi Brink, Founder and Director of LTB, has been working with the defunct facility to place the seven lions, 11 tigers, five cougars, eight wolves and one Black Bear named Sugar Bear in other accredited sanctuaries around the country but time is running out. Desperate help is needed to raise enough funds to build new enclosures and provide transportation for the safe movement of the animals.

“This is a common story where animal lovers start out to do the right thing but the harsh realities of wild animal care and maintenance sets in and the costs and resources needed become overwhelming,” said Bobbi Brink, Founder and Director of Lions Tigers & Bears Big Cat Sanctuary and Wild Animal Rescue. “I commend the facility leadership for recognizing the need to place the animals before it’s too late and the doors are shut for good.”

SB 310 Has Passed the Ohio Senate. Good News As This Bill Will Help Save Exotic Animals and Protects Lives

New Federal Legislation Welcomed Following the Zanesville Exotic Animal Massacre

San Diego – After years of discussion and debate on the plight of wild and exotic animals in the U.S., Bobbi Brink, Founder and Director of Lions Tigers & Bears Big Cat Sanctuary and Rescue (LTB) in the East County of San Diego, CA welcomes the introduction of new legislation that will help protect bi cats and keep communities safe. The proposed legislation is timely following the horrific incident in Zanesville, OH that left 49 wild animals dead after they were released by their owner. The Big Cats and Public Safety Protection Act will prohibit breeding and private possession of big cats exempting only qualified, accredited AZA zoos and sanctuaries such as Lions Tigers & Bears, where they can be properly cared for and protected. Bobbi Brink Shows Her Support of Proposed Federal Legislation

Read Bobbi's letter to bill author Congressman James Moran and co-author Congressman Bob Filner

November 28, 2011

Dear Representative Moran:

On behalf of Lions, Tigers & Bears Big Cat and Exotic Animal Sanctuary, and the hundreds of wild animals we have rescued and cared for, I whole-heartedly support H.R. 3359, the Traveling Exotic Animal Protection Act.

This bill will restrict the use of exotic and non-domesticated animals in traveling circuses and exhibitions and should be adopted as a step towards creating further wild and exotic animal protections. Read the entire letter.

Stand Up for Tigers Being Illegally Traded in the United States

Every year there are tigers bred and killed here in the United States for the purpose of trading. It’s an illegal trade in tiger parts and products like tiger bone wine and alleged “traditional” medicines and aphrodisiacs.  It’s a growing industry and the killing of thousands of tigers here in the US must be stopped. Click here and learn how you can help stand up for tigers being illegally traded.
