Liberty Takes First Steps Into New Black Bear Habitat

Bobbi Brink, founder and director at Lions, Tigers & Bears was thrilled to see Liberty Bear take her first steps into the new “Black Bear Habitat”, a 4-acre home for three resident black bears that will provide a more natural environment for the furry occupants.

“We have been eagerly awaiting the completion of our newest addition to the sanctuary and looking forward to allowing the bears to play freely in a more natural environment for them,” said Bobbi Brink, Founder of Lions, Tigers & Bears. “This habitat falls in line with our mission to provide a safe and healthy environment for neglected or abused animals where they can live out the rest of their lives.”  Read More about Liberty Bear

Bobbi Brink Shows Her Support of Proposed Federal Legislation

Read Bobbi's letter to bill author Congressman James Moran and co-author Congressman Bob Filner

November 28, 2011

Dear Representative Moran:

On behalf of Lions, Tigers & Bears Big Cat and Exotic Animal Sanctuary, and the hundreds of wild animals we have rescued and cared for, I whole-heartedly support H.R. 3359, the Traveling Exotic Animal Protection Act.

This bill will restrict the use of exotic and non-domesticated animals in traveling circuses and exhibitions and should be adopted as a step towards creating further wild and exotic animal protections. Read the entire letter.

Stand Up for Tigers Being Illegally Traded in the United States

Every year there are tigers bred and killed here in the United States for the purpose of trading. It’s an illegal trade in tiger parts and products like tiger bone wine and alleged “traditional” medicines and aphrodisiacs.  It’s a growing industry and the killing of thousands of tigers here in the US must be stopped. Click here and learn how you can help stand up for tigers being illegally traded.

Blossom and DelilahUpdate

The recent testing on Blossom revealed an unidentified mass or possible enlargement of her pylorus, the area between the stomach and the intestines, but several experts who have reviewed the scans are still uncertain as to its origin. Unfortunately, a biopsy was inconclusive.

e will be conducting complete physicals on her and Delilah this week, and hope to have a more definitive answer to her loss of appetite.  She has started to eat a little better and her digestive system seems to be working well.

Both bears are in dire need of dental work, and  the cost for that will run about $2000 for each bear. Learn more...
